AhlulBayt News Agency - The extremist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and their allies launched a new assault on the Syrian government’s main supply route from Damascus City to the Al-Sweida Governorate, striking the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions from the Al-Lajat Plateau.
According to a military source in Damascus City, the extremist rebels attempted to advance east from the Al-Lajat Plateau in the Dara’a Governorate towards the Khalkhalah Military Airport on the border of the Al-Sweida Governorate.
However, the extremist rebels were unable to bypass the Syrian Arab Army’s first line of defense near Dama, resulting in a high number of casualties for the Jabhat Al-Nusra battalions attacking this important area in the Al-Lajat Plateau.
The military source added that the Damascus-Sweida Highway is fully under the Syrian government’s control and that the situation is completely settled.
The Damascus-Sweida Highway was not closed as a result of this wide-scale assault by Jabhat Al-Nusra and their allies on Tuesday.
